It’s his birthday!!

It’s his birthday!!

Hey everyone, Adam here…
I thought this week we could talk about birthdays.  I think birthdays are awesome.  We grow up celebrating with friends and loved ones.  You get to have elaborate theme oriented parties and everyone gives you a gift.  What’s not to love?!?  I really want to talk about how I feel about birthdays after the age of 21, because for me that’s the last real milestone in my eyes.  After 21, maybe 25 is special because my car insurance decreased in price and while that is niece, its not quite as exciting as being able to legally drink or drive a car or becoming a teenager.  What I like to do to make my birthdays more interesting these days is get creative.  Last year I made up a song that I sang from midnight to midnight using my entire allotted 24 hours of my birthday.  I believe the lyrics were “It’s my birthday!!” over and over again.  I know, I’m a lyrical genius!  Other birthday events I found amusing last year were throwing Sierra in the pool and then wearing her dress.  A nice dress always goes over well on your birthday.  My absolutely favorite thing about our birthdays is that last year I met Sierra days after hers and a few months before mine.  So grow old gracefully and enjoy all your birthdays!

Hi all, Sierra here…
In case you haven’t figured it out…today is Adams Birthday!!!  Frankly last year was tough to beat for both of us.  As Adam pointed out, we met only a few days after my birthday and a few months later I flew down from NY to celebrate his.  I believe more than 24 hours was spent singing the birthday song if I recall correctly and yes, he did put on my dress after I left it wet by the side of the pool.  There may be photos somewhere but I think you can use your imagination on that one, I’ll give you that it was floral and strapless.  How right is Adam that after 25 they no longer mark great occasions, just that you’ve made it though another year?  Although this year I turned 35 and that felt incredibly milestone-ish for me…like a right of passage into actual adulthood.  I too grew up celebrating birthdays with great enthusiasm, in fact in my house we even celebrated half birthdays and every year my mom calls my at the exact minute I was born.  We lucked out that with my being the oldest in a family of four girls and Adam being the younger of two boys that we think kind of on the same track for birthdays.  We neither expect grand plans to be made in our honor nor think birthdays are just another day and although having to sing to Adam “It’s your birthday!” every 20 seconds for the entire night did get old, I was glad to do it…because after all “It’s his birthday!!!”
